Lord of the rings actor gollum2/12/2024 ![]() The trailer includes an early look at Thranduil's model, which sports the iconic pointy ears. This assumption appears to be making its way into Gollum according to a trailer shown by Nacon North America on YouTube released last July. However, in the novels, it is never clearly stated that elves have pointy ears, a matter that has been heavily debated by readers since the film adaptions. In the films, they were depicted as fair, tall, and lithe with delicately pointed ears. One of the biggest and most notable presumptions of design can be seen in the representation of the elves. ![]() Related: Lord Of The Rings: Gollum's Characters (So Far) Compared To The Books It is possible the developers of The Lord of the Rings: Gollum have decided to change creative directions with character models to better include descriptions from the original source material. ![]() While The Lord of the Rings movies have set an expectation for how certain characters should look, these visuals actually aren't perfect representations of the characters as they were described in The Lord of the Rings novels. While it isn't clear how old Gandalf or Thranduil will be in Gollum, designing full character models of actors who have aged and changed since their appearances in the films would likely be a difficult obstacle for the game's designers. ![]() This lack of physical change and freedom from living face models likely made the creation of his design for The Lord of the Rings: Gollum less challenging than it would have been to create de-aged versions of iconic characters represented by LOTR actors. Because of this, Gollum's film design was already unique and, according to the film representations of Gollum in both The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogies, hasn't shifted greatly despite the length of time he was hidden away with the ring. Gollum's entire character was done using CGI, while his actor Andy Serkis provided nothing more than voice-over and movements tracked using a bodysuit. When Gollum was introduced in The Lord of the Rings films, his creation pioneered new ground in the film industry for CGI graphics. While it may seem confusing that Gollum's design has remained similar to the film rendition of the character, while Gandalf appears to be sporting an entirely new appearance, this could have to do with face model requirements. ![]()
